Elko and Spring Creek,
Nevada
Friday Morning
I went out to watch the
balloon early Friday
morning but not quite early
enough.
They were already in the
air, sort of.
Seems the balloons were
having problems getting
up there, one had even
landed in the road
and was packing it in.
But everywhere they landed
there was
a group of people there
to greet and
talk with them. It still
looked like lots of fun!!
Saturday in Spring Creek
I got up really early Saturday determined
to see
the balloons take off. I think it was
about 19 degrees
out in that field in Spring Creek. My
toes and fingers
were getting numb even though I was dressed
warmly.
For some reason the balloonists were
getting a late
start. We were all standing around waiting,
and they
hadn't even unloaded their balloon. I
went back and sat
in my warm car for 45 minutes, then finally
they began.
Once again it seemed they had trouble
getting off the ground,
but it was still quite spectacular when
they were all going up
together, but they all ended up in peoples
yards or
out in fields again, and by 10:00 eveyone
had packed up
and gone home! I guess the weather wasn't
right.
