After
a long flight from Salt Lake City
we
finally arrived in Boston in the late afternoon.
We stayed at the Hilton
right at the airport
which was really convenient.
We found it was
quite easy to get around
town on the "T"
(which is the subway) for
just a buck a ride.
We could take the shuttle
from the hotel to the airport
station and then just two
stops down and we're
downtown at Fenial Hall.
We walked around in the drizzle
and looked in all the shops,
and walked on down to
the Union Oyster House,
the oldest operating
restaurant in America!
It was great.
Food was good, historical
atmosphere,
great service!
Shopping at Finiel Hall, the lobby at the Hilton
David in front of Quincy Market, which is filled with good eating spots!
We went on further down the street to the Union Oyster House.
It's the oldest restaurant in America. The food
was outstanding and the service great, even if we
did have to wait a while for a table, it was worth it.

We spent the day Friday following the Freedom Trail.
It was a chilly, drizzly day and we were soaked by the end.
Don't bother with the tour buses, we ended up dumping ours
because it took so long for them to pick us up we spent
most of our morning waiting on soggy street corners.
So we finished the trail in the afternoon by just walking
and took the T back to the hotel.
The tour bus sent a limo to our hotel to take us
to meet the bus. I have to tell you it was the most uncomfortable
ride I ever had, what do people see in these things. We
did have interesting conversation with our limo mates
from England and Sweden.
The Old North Church from the famous Midnight Ride of Paul Revere.
Sign proclaiming Revere's lanterns hung her April 18,1773.
Paul Revere statue in park behind the church
Paul Revere's house, it has an interesting museum inside that tells
all about him.
We went next to see the USS Constitution (Old Ironsides). It was very
interesting and the sailors (real Navy guys) who give the tours
are very informative.
David, ready to man the guns!
Old Ironsides from the front!
From the parking lot by the Constitution you could see
the Bunker Hill Monument.
We got off the tour bus for the last time at the
state capital and decided to follow the red line on the
side walk and finish the tour on foot..
We passed an old graveyard where Samuel Adams,
Paul Revere, and many other famous gravesites were.
Gravesite of Samuel Adams
Paul Revere's gravesite.
All the gravestone in this cemetary were really
spooky looking. Almost everyone had a skull on top of it.
We also walked by the Park Street Church which
was of special interest to us, as the first missionaries
to Hawaii, including Kona, were sent by this church.
Remember the movie "Hawaii".
Plaque on the church naming the missionaries sent to Hawaii.

We walked on through town and ended up back at
Finiel Hall. David standing here with his
buddy Sam Adams.
