One day we spent on the Fair
Wind.
It's a large catamaran that
sails out to
Kealakekua Bay for snorkeling.
We sailed out from Keauhou
Marina early one
morning. It was a bit overcast,
but a nice day.
We arrived at the bay to crystal
clear water and
lots of fish!! It was so much
fun, I stayed in the water
all day, except for a short
break to gobble
down the great burgers they
made us for lunch,
even though I was chilled
to the bone!
Here are a few shots of our
underwater friends.
Due to the overcast condition,
pictures are
not very clear, believe me,
the view is
much, much better in person.
Kealakekua Bay is a marine
preserve, and there is
also the historical aspect.
This is the place where the
first white men (Capt. James
Cook and his crew)
first landed in Hawaii, and
coincidentally,
where Capt. Cook was killed
by the Hawaiians
after he and his men took
advantage of their
hospitality for much too long.
This is the monument to his
landing.
